About 3 years ago when Alex & I were brainstorming the still-unfinished aTALLdrinkofwater.com & futuregirlfriend.com projects, we mused that the sites should incorporate "WTF technology" (what the f***?).  WTF would consist of a little "wtf?" icon which would automatically be integrated into a website near any important buzzwords, people, etc. so that the user could quickly find out WTF that word meant.  The main purpose was so that people could quickly understand why in the world we were dedicating an entire website to Mikey & his impersonators.  But we quickly realized that such technology could have far-reaching impact if it could be auto-integrated into all web pages.  Now, after our sloth and inaction, Yahoo! has just started using it for their AP stories, although the WTF icon has been coyly replaced by a double arrow icon.

If you use Trillian for all of your IMing needs, they implemented something similar as well in version 3.  Random words in your IM conversations are underlined and mousing-over creates a dropdown window with the text of the Wikipedia article of the same name.

JS, Trillian's is a use wikipedia though.  Jerry and I have it using author defined terminology, where Trillian uses an encylopedia that is based on user defined definitions for uncommon words.  I personally always liked the idea of a little WTF! logo, I just think that would be hysterical.  It would be best used for inside joke clarification on any idiot parody sites that Jerry and I would talk about but never really do.
