Some time up in the thread, the question was asked if someone with some "fake boob" know-how could shed some light on this. While I'm not yet a cosmetic surgeon, but I'm in residency to become one and have seen MANY procedures done. I came across this thread looking for particularly false-looking implants to get a handle on the most common mistakes, but I'll tell you what I know now that I'm here! First: augmented breasts DO shrink if you lose weight. Women store a lot of fat in their breast tissue, and when you lose weight it's unfortunately usually the first to go, regardless of what else is in there. The fat is outside the muscle, and the implants are under the muscle, so you will see a difference. This can even off-set the look of the implants. Second: scars from the surgery are usually permanent, regardless of treatment. While they won't disappear entirely, skilled surgeons treatments can hide them to an extent. Third: Nobody can say for sure that the procedure was done "because they were there." The doctors are bound by a confidentiality agreement and cannot disclose whether or not they worked on specific patients without permission from said patient. I'm sorry to conclude that I cannot say for certain from this picture whether her breasts have been augmented. It is possible to see growth from certain herbs (which act similarly to hormones and increase the size of the mammary glands), hormone fluctuations (natural or caused by medications such as birth control) or significant weight gain. Augmentations are most noticable within the first month of the surgery (while the implants are still riding high, causing convex curvature above the breast rather than the natural slope) and about five-ten years after, when they begin to noticably fall. If she had implants at 17, this natural drop will occur sooner rather than later as her body has likely not fully developed into its adult form yet. Sorry the post was so long, I hope I was of some help to you all! (P.S. I'm working in Scottsdale, Arizona at the moment, and if anyone's interested I would HIGHLY recommend the local surgeons!) Sincerely, Allison Wilson
